summer nail color

With the end of summer steadily approaching and me not having sported any sort of summer-only-color, I figured it was now or never. Robin's egg blue was a major trend (thanks to Chanel Nouvelle Vague No. 527) but I really liked OPI's Shrek collection. The color I used was from a sample size so unfortunately I can't give you the name.

I also picked up a few other colors: (left to right) Allure by Essie, Coney Island Cotton Candy by OPI and Jade is the New Black by OPI.

Sorry about the lack of posts!! I have so much to show you guys and will post as soon as I can!!

arroz caldo

I'm sick. Actually, I'm quite sick. (Staying in bed, drinking lots of fluids, going to the doctor, etc). I'm home alone today to fend for myself and since the only things that are in my house to eat are left over BBQ and puffy cheetos, I went ahead and made myself 'arroz caldo.' It is the filipino verison of rice congee (rice soup).

Ingredients:

- oil
- 1 1/2 cups of rice
- 2 chicken breasts, cut into chunks
- 2 cloves of garlic, bruised
- 1 small onion, chopped
- small piece of ginger, thinly sliced
- 3-4 tablespoons of patis (or soy sauce)
- 2 stalks of scallions, chopped
- 6 cups of water

rice

I used a little bit more of the garlic, onion, ginger, and scallions than the recipe called for. I like mine really flavorful!
ginger, garlic, onions, scallions

patis (fish sauce)

I used 4 chicken thighs. I prefer dark meat over white. It's not as dry as chicken breasts plus it's cheaper.
raw chicken thighs

Directions:

- Heat oil in a large saucepan
- Add chicken and cook for 2 minutes (if you are using chicken thighs or other pieces of meat cook the skin side first)
- Add patis, garlic, onion, and ginger. Cook for another 2 minutes
- Add rice and water. Cook on medium-low heat for 20 minutes stirring occasionally
- Serve in bowls with scallions on top

brown the chicken
add the rest of the ingredients
almost finished

ENJOY!

pardon me

but WHAT is up with this, Chicago??
weather
The only thing that weather in the upper 90s + thunderstorms makes me want to do is turn up the AC to stay inside and watch episodes of Criminal Minds or reruns of Will & Grace. It is therefore nearly impossible for me to put on the pants I've been working on and take pictures as I only like to go outside to take my pictures (better lighting!). So the only thing I have to leave you with today is a picture of my new shoes.
Alexander Wang inspired booties
They are Alexander Wang inspired boots I got a few weeks ago from AKIRA. I decided to go with the olive ones rather than the black ones. This leather is quite shiny which made the all black ones look a little stripper-ella...

You'll have to wait and see! I can't wait to show you guys how these turned out. I already have the outfit all picked out, I just need the weather to cool down a bit. No idea when I'll be wearing pants when the weather is around 90 degrees...Did I mention I CANNOT WAIT FOR FALL??

I used Proenza Schouler + J Brand's fall collection as inspiration.

Goodnight!
